It was the absence of an Iranian cultural heritage and a burning passion for its recreation that inspired me many years ago to summon up all my energy and resources to give life to the neglected Iranian art of Persian ballet. It was a dream demanding all my energy, attention and a humble dedication. It was a dream that seemed to be so unrealistic. Founding Les Ballets Persans to recreate a national heritage and to establish one of the most recognized and respected Iranian cultural organizations in exile was possible thanks to all the enthusiastic support that I received. This gave me the courage to tackle this difficult task and achieve my ambitious goals. Persian dance comes from one of the world’s oldest civilizations. When searching for its source the clues lead us to an era as far as four thousand years ago: to the origin of the cult of Mithra and the ritual dance of our ancestors. I am deeply honored because many years of extremely hard work has resulted in the recreation of an important part of our Iranian cultural heritage, and also because the foundation of this cultural institution is regarded as an important integration project in Sweden. The realization of this artistic project in its world premiere performance became like a rainbow full of delightful colours with participants from 22 different countries. And thus the organization has established a multicultural and close collaboration between artists of different origins in Sweden. Les Ballets Persans is dedicated to the art and the culture of my native country, and to the new generation of Iranians. It is intended to function as an element of integration for Iranians in their Diaspora. We will use the universal language of dance to celebrate this ancient and rich culture, promoting a genuine dialogue between cultures and civilizations. Thus the organization intends to celebrate diversity, and to counteract segregation by contributing to a meaningful and important artistic production in a globalized sense. The Association of the Friends of Les Ballets Persans invites you to share in our endeavours. Your participation and support will help in our struggle towards the quality and excellence that is our goal. We would like to offer you a unique possibility of linking with the Iranian cultural elite and Iran’s foremost artists, whose participation and contribution have given Les Ballets Persans the profile that it has today. It is our aspiration to be accompanied and supported by the wide public that we are addressing, without whom we cannot achieve our ambitious objectives. In order to thank you for supporting the Company, the association provides its members with privileged contact with the artists, priority in ticket reservation, ticket discounts, access to public rehearsals, lectures, meetings with the dancers, choreographers, musicians and important people from the world of dance, etc. We hope very much that you will join us in this circle of friendship, which aims to invigorate and strengthen the ties of co-operation and understanding between us.
